Join us for DFL 32 • LGBTQ + Scuba Jamboree
Diving for Life co-organizers Cordell Brown, Chad Anderson, and the entire DFL Board of Directors invite you to join us for our 32nd Annual Diving For Life International LGBTQ + SCUBA Jamboree hosted at Capt. Don's Habitat, Bonaire, Dutch Caribbean.
Captain Don's Bonaire has been host to six Diving For Life LGBTQ+ Scuba Jamborees since their first in 1993.
Hosting again in 1997, 2001, 2009, 2014, and 2019, there are so many reasons why we keep coming back. From the incredibly welcoming demeanor of the islanders to the pristine waters, Bonaire is an island that has something for everyone. It has a rich cultural history that dates back to the glory days of pirates and the Dutch West India Company's lucrative salt production on the island. Its majestic salt flats are home to one of the largest breeding colonies of Caribbean flamingos in the region. Truly a site to see!
Bonaire is best known for its incredible underwater world, making it a top destination for scuba diving and snorkeling. The island’s surrounding waters are protected as part of the Bonaire National Marine Park, ensuring the preservation of its vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life. For those who prefer to stay on land, Bonaire offers picturesque landscapes, including salt flats, mangroves, and the unique Washington Slagbaai National Park, where you can spot native wildlife and explore hiking trails. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are also popular on the island due to the consistent trade winds. Visitors can also explore the island's charming capital, Kralendijk, known for its colorful Dutch-Caribbean architecture and relaxed atmosphere.
A NEW EXPERIENCE FOR 2025
Every detail has been designed to have the least possible impact on the local environment. The rooms and facilities are nestled in lush landscaping carefully designed to eliminate harmful runoff into the fragile marine Ecosystem thriving right in front of Captain Don’s Habitat. Walking through the resort, one can truly appreciate a broad spectrum of the flora and fauna of Bonaire. Iguanas, lizards, over 50 species of birds, and a wide variety of indigenous and imported species of plants and trees, create the perfect balance between world-class accommodations and nature.
Over the years we have seen many changes at Captain Don's–nothing quite like what we are going to experience in 2025. We have exclusive use of the brand new rooms in the buildings built around the brand new pool. We will have a private area that will be cordoned off from other guests so we can celebrate Diving For Life for who we are! And, of course, Claire and Roger are committed to making our week outstanding.
Since DFL's first event at Captain Don's in 1993, there has never been a resort that has quite felt like home more than Captain Don's Habitat, Bonaire.
Welcome home.
